In a recent article, U. S. News & World Report ranked Punta Gorda as one of the best and healthiest places to retire. Of course, we knew that all along. The Peace River empties into the harbor and many boaters prefer to go “Up river” to fish in the secluded tributaries. The scenery is spectacular and if you are a bird watcher, you will enjoy the large variety of waterfowl. Sometimes small islands are so filled with nesting storks they appear snow capped.
